World Cynosport® Flyball Championship

The North American Flyball Association, the United States Dog Agility Association, Inc. and World Cynosport Ltd. are proud to announce the joint effort to bring the World Cynosport® Flyball Championship to the 2006 World Cynosport® Games. The flyball championship hosted by the North American Flyball Association, Inc. ("NAFA®") is to be held at West World Equestrian Center in Scottsdale, Arizona November the 3rd though the 5th, 2006. This weekend's special event will be a unique racing opportunity, allowing the fastest teams to progress through a series of qualifying tournaments to reach a final round of head to head competition. By Sunday afternoon all eyes will be focused on a final-round race off between the two finalist teams resulting in the crowning of a World Cynosport® Flyball Champion.

Non-Regional Champion teams wishing to participate may earn the right to enter Friday's qualifying round with their fastest posted time run in a NAFA® sanctioned tournament during the 2006 racing year. Teams will be ranked by time and the tournament filled beginning with the fastest teams and accepting teams until all available slots are filled. During this tournament teams will race for rankings within their divisions and to establish a seed time quick enough to earn themselves a spot in the Saturday final qualifiers. As the day on Friday progresses, times will be posted and compared to the number of openings on Saturday so that competitors and spectators will be able to watch as teams are ranked and qualified for Saturday's final qualifying round.

Saturday's tournament will be limited to 50 teams. All Regional Champions from the recently finished 2006 NAFA® racing year (October 2005 to September 2006) will have earned an entry, and be ranked by their fastest posted time during the 2006 racing year. Along with the Regional Champions will be the fastest teams from Friday's tournament. The fifty teams (Regional Champions plus fastest teams from Friday) will be entered into a Round Robin event with each team having 4 races Saturday to post a seed time for entry into Sunday's final round while they compete within their divisions for placements. All teams will submit a final line up by the start of racing on Saturday that will be carried over to Sunday's finals. Each team will use their fastest raced time on Saturday for seeding into the Sunday's finals.

Sunday's final elimination competition will be held with the top 32 teams from Saturday's competition. A Champion, along with 2nd place and 3rd place awards, will be awarded at the closing ceremony of the World Cynosport® Flyball Championship.

This special event is brought together to promote NAFA® teams and NAFA® flyball and we look forward to seeing the Regional Champions and quick teams from all around the U.S. and Canada. Racing will begin at 9 am and conclude at 5 pm each day giving all participants ample time to visit with teams from the North American Flyball Association community. More details will follow as the event approaches, and it is hoped that teams will begin to make plans immediately to attend this world class event.
